eCom’s digital learning helps NHS demonstrate Quality Improvement

NHS organisations seeking clearer evidence of Quality Improvement (QI) can now benefit from a more accessible and measurable way to develop their workforce. eCom Learning Solutions is expanding its digital learning offering across the health service to support consistent delivery of QI programmes and give leaders the data they need to demonstrate real progress.

As services continue to face significant operational pressures, NHS leaders are focused on the need for QI outcomes they can track and trust. Training must be consistent, accessible, and aligned to real clinical challenges, without adding to already stretched administrative workloads.

eCom’s digital approach offers capabilities that can support these needs, such as competency mapping that can be linked to QI objectives, role-specific accessible learning for healthcare professionals, real-time dashboards to show progress, and issuing digital credentials through eNetBadges to recognise achievement. These can be combined as required to reduce admin burden and strengthen the evidence base for improvement activity.

This approach builds on eCom’s work with NHS Education for Scotland (NES), where the team designed and delivered a portfolio of more than 16 digital QI modules. Covering systems thinking, improvement aims, PDSA cycles, implementation, and systems dynamics, the portfolio enabled NHS organisations to scale training across regions, give busy staff flexible access, and embed QI principles into everyday practice.

Wendy Edie, CEO of eCom Learning Solutions, said:

“We have worked with the NHS for many years, so we understand the pressures teams are under and how important it is to have training that fits around demanding roles. Our aim is to make digital learning practical and relevant, something staff can use straight away in real clinical settings. And ultimately, we want to help build a culture where improvement becomes part of everyday practice.”

By combining accessible digital learning with tools that show real progress, eCom is helping NHS teams turn Quality Improvement into a natural part of how services develop and evolve.

eCom’s wider NHS work also reflects this focus on accessible, high-quality learning. The team supports a range of healthcare projects, including the International Confederation of Midwives’ global digital academy, secure online assessment for the National School of Healthcare Science, CPD resources for district nurses, trauma and substance use training for NES, and consistent phototherapy training across NHS Scotland.
