How One Assessment Project Helped Define eCom

Back in 2002, eCom Learning Solutions was given an opportunity to support a client following an unsuccessful assessment trial with another supplier, and it turned out to be a pivotal moment for the business.

By focusing not just on the technology, but on the experience, delivery, and partnership approach, we helped turn the project around - beginning a relationship that continues more than two decades later.

That experience reinforced something that still defines eCom today:

Clients need more than a vendor - they need a trusted partner.

To support this, eCom now has a specialist Assessment Team with deep expertise in question writing, assessment construction, accessibility, and delivery models. Our people understand how to create question banks that not only measure knowledge effectively but also support fairness, accessibility, and a positive learner experience.

Assessment design is often an area that trainers and subject specialists receive little formal guidance on themselves. But the right assessment expertise makes all the difference. Having experienced people to collaborate with - people who understand both the theory and the practical realities of delivery – is rare, and makes a huge difference. It’s one of the reasons clients continue to value the support and consultancy that comes as part of working with eCom.

Alongside this, our platform, eNetAssess, has continued to evolve from its early beginnings into a fully integrated assessment and delivery solution. Over the years, new functionality has been added in response to client needs, advances in technology, and changes across the assessment landscape.

Our continued focus is on maintaining trust, integrity and fairness in assessment.

Today, that evolution continues through AI-focused research and development. New AI-powered features are already being introduced for clients, while ongoing work around AI detection and identifying unauthorised devices reflects eCom’s continued focus on maintaining trust, integrity, and fairness in assessment.

For us, assessment has never simply been about passing a test. It’s about creating opportunities and giving organisations and learners confidence in the results and the chance of a better future.
